Take Two

Well so much for resuming transmission :)   I will have to make more of an effort to post, but really it’s been nothing but bad news.  Late Nov/Early Dec saw my worst downswing ever, and there really wasn’t much point in bleating about it!  Suffice to say I just couldn’t get a hand to hold up, I had KK into AA several times and then AA beaten by KK twice in a row.  That and all the donks catching miracle one and two outers on the river made for a downswing of over 20 buyins.  It was brutal.

But I’m slowly coming back.  I’m participating actively over at Stoxpoker where I am a regular member through their awesome Truly Free Poker training promotion.  I’m getting some coaching from LillaRya over there and that is going well.  The hard part has been finding the fundamental leaks in my game.  Basically there hasn’t been major glaring spots so its been hard to come to terms with not posting solid results.  I’ve cut back on the multitabling and have been focusing really hard on not only table but seat selection, which has begun to pay dividends.  Hopefully I’ve turned the corner and have started the long climb back to winning territory.  My graph looks brutal, but I won’t post it until I’m back in the black.

Still having fun though, and that’s what its all about.

All I can say is stick at it. Personally, I am having a break from cash games. The only solution to the highs and lows of variance is volume, and even a winning player can lose over 50,000 hands. I only play about 8,000 hands a month, so even over 6 months I could lose even if I was a winning player. Now that pokertableratings.com is tracking microstakes, you can see there are players who put in 10,000 hands a day, or 300,000 a month!! They play more in one day than I play in a month.

Therefore, I have switched back to single table sitngo’s, which I used to play a couple of years ago. I had an ROI of 20% and whilst I think the play is a bit better generally, I think I can still win at it.

It’s all about having fun right?!
